Tintin comes to life

As a lifelong fan I couldn’t be more thrilled about the news. It’s been years in the making and there has been a lot of speculation about whether it will ever see the light of day or not, but finally comes the first visual proof of the new Tintin movie! A joint venture between Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, to hit the cinemas in 3D October 2011.

As you can see these are two of Hollywood’s herculean names tagged to this project, so needless to say the expectations are sky high! This wont be the first cinematic adaptation of the Belgian boy wonder and his friends’ adventures. but it will be the first that tries to fuse the style of the graphic novels with photo-realism through CGI.

Starring Andy Serkis (Gollum and King Kong) who is basically the leading actor when it comes to motion capture performance, as captain Haddock. It’s still unclear whether there are more movies planned, since there were once rumours about a trilogy with different styles of execution to each instalment. But given the fact that it happens to be my favourite adventure of Tintin, namely “The Secret of the Unicorn” that is being adapted we can almost take for granted that there will at least be a follow up based on the second part of the story, namely “Red Rackham’s Treasure”.
