Looking for the summer …

Back at work and studies after a really nice summer. This year I have had a chance to both relax and train. I also managed to catch up with a lot of micro plans and projects that had been put on the back-burner, so needless to say it has been a summer of satisfaction. A lot of work done and the battery recharged! Therefore it feels good to be back on a higher pace and performance, even though I kinda miss the memories of this summer …

Punchy in pink

I never thought I’d say this but I’m dating a fighter! I guess all time spent on MMA training has had more than a physical effect on me. Hehe, then again I never knew there was such hot fighter chicks out there either (she will be reading this and she can literally kick my ass!lol). No but seriously I’ve always had a thing for the combination of strength and sensuality, and Gina Carano had a lot to do with it! Hehe, so now I’m dating my very own kick-ass ass-kicker. But even though she is an MMA-fighter she is also very girly, so I call her “punchy”, which she hates!lol I wanna get her a pair of pink gloves, just like the ones Gina has, and if I survive the rumble I’m gonna get a pink octagon for our bedroom!loool (As you see I happen to have a death wish, just so you know in case all of a sudden I seize to blog!l Hehe)

Even better than the real thing?

The extreme international success of Guitar Hero has led to the fact that more units of the plastic game gadget was sold last year than the actual authentic instrument! The guitar manufacturers Sparrow Guitars were so pissed that they launched a campaign against Guitar Hero’s rampant reign, a campaign which the Canadian ad agency “Rethink Agency” recently won an award for.

Toast wave radio

The Swedish OBH Nordica have designed this peculiar fusion for your morning pleasure!

Find the paparazzi

Lovely Duff, lovely legs and a lovely attitude make one happy paparazzi!lol

On a safari hunt

I want a safari jacket for the season. I have a cool safari jacket which I love, but its too large for me to wear now. Sadly no mater where I search I just don’t find one with the right fit!

Getting more and more entangled

I have mentioned how much I like the poster design of the upcoming Disney animated motion picture “Tangled”, now that I have watched the new trailer I have to say that I even love the design of the actual animation itself. Though I was a huge Disney fan when I was little, in recent decades I have had difficultly to digest the growing musical portions of the features! But this one looks like to have been spared and the humour reminds of Shrek in accordance with DreamWorks’ grown-up flavoured formula. Design-wise it reminds me of a very underrated but extremely well-animated movie which is to me one of the most aesthetically appealing animated features, namely “The Road to El Dorado“. Spiked with the whole GAME-style rendering and third dimension orientation, makes me really looking forward to watch it in 3D!

Black blade

One day, when I grow up, I wanna learn to shave with one of these black beauties!

Book-stair-case

Forget about the couch, I need this kind of case!

Pumping jam #2

Another one of my gym jams is the Swedish Infinite Mass’ “Bullet”. Makes mental wonders for me in bench press! By the way the band has sampled the Who and the video features footage from Daltrey’s excellent “McVicar” movie from 1980. To me the origin to recent decade’s British “hesit” movies!

Streetify your suit

This is exactly what I’m talking about! Suave!

Feathered garter

That’s one cool and cute garter Pixie wears on stage.

Leather your pad

Loving this classy iPad case from Makr Carry Goods. Chic and smooth!

By the way, my beloved bookbook case is now available even for the pad. But I have to be fair, the Makr Carry Goods case is far more superior for the casing of this particular Mac item!

Better the devil you don’t know

When I was a child a concept was planted into my brain, after reading Iraj Pezeshkzad’s “Adabe Mard Beh Ze Dolate Oost Tahrir Shod”. Yes I know, some might consider it an inappropriate book for a seven year old to read, but if I hadn’t read such books I wouldn’t had turned into the devilish genius that I am today!lol And to be fair there are not many kids or even teenagers who voluntarily pick up and read a play at that age, let alone understand the satyr! So I have been an exception, confirming the rule.

But I loved (and still love) Pezeshkzad’s books, thanks to my mother’s presentation of the author of “Daayi Jaan Napoleon” and his collection of clever writings. So the concept of the devil in disguise was planted into my brain and eventually it even developed into a story which is still in the writing. When I first read about M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming horror “Devil” months ago I was shocked and “shaakh daravordam” as we say, because the description was also about my creation! “Few strangers stuck in an elevator …one proves to be the devil in disguise”. But after having seen the trailer I realized that this movie and my story had only that part in common, all I now need to do is to relocate my strangers from an elevator to another closed claustrophobic location!lol But I look forward to watch “Devil”, since Shyamalan is one of my absolute favourite directors, and the fact that his less popular movies speak more to me than his blockbusters makes me love him even more. So, I will forgive him if he has somehow pulled a reverse inception on me!lol

Greatest geek minds at work

Friends and rivals, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates

Things that I would NEVER wear! (#3)

I hated the look of tasselled loafers back in the 80’s and now that these dangling appendixes have somehow survived and returned from the suppressed consciousness of fashion, I hate them even more!lol

Shapelessly Swedish

Cocoon by Swedish Salomonsen is meant to be used for decoration, storage and cultivation by the kitchen window. But its also one of the worst decisions and executions in form and function that I have ever seen!

Assembling abstraction

I was never a big fan of jigsaw puzzles when I was little. It was simply too frustrating and unrewarding to let your time get consumed by something that you already knew the motif of! Now this exclusive designer puzzle takes the challenge to a whole new level, by having an extremely abstract motif broken into 672 pieces. To make things worst it will cost you between $150-500 (available also as signed edition limited to 30!) to get this chaotic mess home, to assemble and organise!

Happy SUPER birthday MARIO!

The only guy who can always pull off a moustache turns 25 today!

The elephant on the coffee-table

TASCHEN has just released another instalment in their series of critically acclaimed coffee-table books dedicated to different male and female body parts. Finally comes one that celebrates my personal favourite part namely the female posterior! I’m sure my passion and appreciation for posterior perfection doesn’t come as a total shock for the loyal readers of my blog, those who haven’t been scared away that is! Hehe. Growing up in Europe sexuality has always been the other half of sensuality for me, hence worn openly on my sleeve. It is a priceless and irreplaceable source of inspiration for both the creature and creator in me. I have always been fascinated by the female shapes and form, aesthetically just as much as sexually, and I’ve regarded and studied them with absolute awe and respect through my art. The female body is to me the true proof of the divinity of nature! There have been numerous serious academic researches and books written on subject matter, which believe it or not has had indirect impact on important people and events in history! TASCHEN’s contribution however offers a time and trend overview, an explicit catalogue for both the derrière connoisseur and the curious cat alike. A book which celebrates them all, in all colours, shapes and sizes. The trilingually written and accessibly entitled “The Big Butt Book” contains 372 pages of beautifully reproduced vintage and modern photos by legendary photographers such as Ed Fox, Terry Richardson and Richard Kern. Along with interviews with related icons such as John “Buttman” Stagliano and Tinto Brass. I have been long time devote of TASCHEN as a leading publisher, both when it comes to fine art, popular culture and sophisticated erotica. A publisher with cohonas big enough to put the big ass (pun intended) elephant in the living room on your coffee-table! with their latest offering on the table this aficionado and collector can’t be anything but grateful. Having said that this is nothing for the prude, so don’t let curiosity kill the cat!lol But if you are indecent enough to flaunt the elephant on your actual coffee-table, like yours-truly, then you’re able to appreciate this piece of … literature completely. Oh by the way, the panties are just a print on the removable transparent dust-jacket!! Shame on you and your decadent mind TASCHEN! hehehe

The “Buttwoman”, pornstar Alexis Texas, is one of the features of the book.

The Bape table

Folks at A Bathing Ape really believe in their streetwear brand. So much that they meet at a table shaped like their cool logo!

Prepobilia

Teruyoshi Hayashida’s photo book “Take Ivy”, capturing the preppy American east coast fashion, was originally printed in Japan back in 1965 and since then become a rare item for all fashionistos around the world to seek after. In 2006 a very limited edition was printed and almost immediately sold out! Now a third print is being available from the Powerhouse Books, for those who are interested. It also comes in a special $245 edition including a grey sweater and a bridle leather belt, in collaboration with K-Swiss!

USB Mixtape

As you know I’m rather old fashioned in terms of my love for giving and receiving mixtapes. However long gone are the cassette tapes and even the CDs, pretty soon, so SUCK UK has come up with a neat solution to meet all generations’ needs. A USB flashdrive dressed as an old-school mixtape! I love it!

Comfortably convertable

Sneakers for both summer and fall!

PIN-UP of POP

I don’t know how it slipped my mind to mention the cover artwork of Katy Perry’s debut album when it was released two years ago, but better late than never. Especially when it’s just been followed up by an album with an equally great cover!

I am not a huge fan of Perry’s music and her comic style 50’s pin-up image doesn’t really work for me but as a complete concept she is foolproof! I bought both of her albums only because of the consistency that characterises the artwork in relation to her image and music. There were also other features which I can’t quite put my finger on …

Vertical garden

Garden for the urban home. Difficult to maintain, I guess, but well worth the effort!

It’s been the shortest summer

I’m delighted to have experienced yet another summer of the shortest shorts! Some of the shortest ending even before the cheeks do!lol When they started to appear two years ago who knew that they would stick around for two years, become progressively shorter and eventually reign supreme summer of 10? Much love and respect to all designers and legs at work! ;)

iPad Apple

Love this!

A movie made for me!

Usually I either recommend or not recommend movies in my reviews, but this time it’s different. “Against the Current” is a movie made for me! It’s as if I had written and directed a movie for myself, and myself only! It tackles many of the emotional and existentialistic questions that I have encountered and pondered in my life, either directly or indirectly. It has also a very firm but controversial moral stand point which goes against the religious and social currents (a title with both literal meaning and symbolic relevance) but I personally happen to share.

“Against the Current” is a humble indie movie with a dependent soul but an independent intelligence. It is its maker’s second movie and it has taken him eight whole years to follow up his debut! Still without much ado comes a beautiful and emotive movie which speaks through its actors, cinematography and soundtrack. As if “Garden State” had grown up! It gives Joseph Finnes a chance to redeem his professional reputation after the fiasco that was called “Flashforward“. “Against the Current” flew under the radar and will probably never make it to most homes, it will doubtfully get a Blu-ray release even. But I don’t care! It’s a movie made for me!

Lads don’t be afraid to accessorize!

My favourite bracelets for this summer. As you know I love bold colours as well as ethnic and tribal features in fashion. I have also always loved bracelets and love the fact that the trend is now turning for men to wear bracelets, in fact to such extent that you can accessorize dapper suits with street and tribal bracelets!

Yin-Yang

I wish I could take credit for the composition of this picture. For the symmetry and symbolism of the black and grey pigeons, the light and the shadows, and the white fading stripe! But I can’t, I was merely an accidental catcher of circumstances’ orchestration …

LG OLED …o’really?

LG has this 0.11-inch thick, 31-inch 3D OLED on its way to your homes. Will OLED replace all older alternatives on the market? LG sure is confident that their slim attraction will outshine everything on the market!

Machete mamacitas

As much as I’m happy that Danny Trejo has finally got a lead role to once and for all pin his cult status, it is only for the Latina twin tamales Electra and Elise Avellan, playing a couple of crazy nurses, that I will watch “Machete” which premiers today. The sisters better known as the crazy babysitter twins of “Grindhouse”!

Unfortunately only one of this sisters, namely Electra, showed up for the sneak premiere in LA! But one sister is better than no sister, right? ;)

On a funny note it should be mentioned that “Machete” is the first movie in history to be based on its trailer! The origin goes back to a fake trailer in the “Grindhouse” movie set, which got so popular that the demand led to an actual full length feature (check out the poster in my limited Japanese edition).
